A concert is being held by Simply Voices in Doncaster on Friday to raise money to fight cancer.

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm at St Peter in Chains Church, Chequer Road, Doncaster, DN1 2AA, will feature performances by Simply Voices, The Doncaster Wheatsheaf singers and The Tickhill male voice choir, as well as solo performances.

Tickets are £6 each and are available from the choir by email at, by visiting or phoning 01302 571874.

All proceeds will go to Cancer Research.

Simply Voices is a large mixed choir from Doncaster, which has raised more than £7,000 for different causes during the past year, including Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and St John’s Hospice, Doncaster.

A spokeman said: “This year we are raising funds for Cancer Research as it is a cause very close to our hearts because, just like lots of other groups and organisations, too many of our choir members and their families have suffered from cancer.

“However, lots of us have survived. We want to help make sure that more and more people come through this dreadful experience.

“We’re really excited to have started forming a team for Race for Life 5Km in Doncaster on June 28, so please keep visiting our page for updates on our progress. We started with seven women and now have a team of 40.”

Choir leader Kathryn Burnage said: “Thanks to the work done by Cancer Research, one in two people with cancer now survive.

“I am immensely grateful to be one of them. I wouldn’t be without Cancer Research and Weston Park Cancer Hospital.

“I’m entering Race for Life because I can, because I’m still here.”
