Doncaster’s Roots Music Club is preparing to welcome a hero of folk music.
Former Lindisfarne star Billy Mitchell is performing at the club next week.
Billy began playing in various groups in the 1960s, before a spell in Canada.
A spokesman for the artist said: “On his return, Billy was invited to return to England to join Jack the Lad with members of the recently split Lindisfarne. Then followed four albums and four years touring the UK and Europe.
“The year 1996 saw Billy join Newcastle favourites Lindisfarne who enjoyed critical acclaim for their live concerts and albums of new songs.
“Since Lindisfarne’s retirement in 2003, Billy has embarked on a successful solo career.”
Billy plays The Roots Music Club on Friday, July 10, at Doncaster Brewery Tap, Young Street. Tickets are priced from £8 in advance, from www.wegottickets.com/rootsmusicclubdoncaster, or £10 on the door. Doors for the show open at 7.30pm.
