Epworth actress Sheridan Smith scooped a top TV award this evening.
The former South Axholme Academy pupil was shortlisted in two categories for the 2015 National Television Awards held at The O2 London.
Sheridan, 33, whose parents live on Station Road, won the Drama Performance category, for her performance in the acclaimed biopic, Cilla. She was up against Sarah Lancashire for her role in Happy Valley, Dame Maggie Smith for her continued success in Downton Abbey and Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch.
She was also up for the Drama category, with Cilla going up against international dramas Downton Abbey, Doctor Who and Sherlock. This category was won by Downton Abbey.
Unfortunately Sheridan turned up late having been stuck in traffic for three hours, but eventually acccepted her award from presenter Dermot O’Leary.
