The thirtieth anniversary of the miners’ strike will be commemorated at this year’s South Yorkshire Festival.

The event is at Wortley Hall next Saturday, August 16, from noon until 5pm.

Former BBC Industrial and Political Correspondent Nick Jones will be speaking during the festival.

He covered the 1984-85 miners’ strike as industrial correspondent for BBC Radio.

He also wrote two chapters in Settling Scores: The Media, the Police and the Miners’ Strike about the revelations contained in cabinet papers released in January this year.

Lesley Boulton from the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign will also be speaking in the Henry Collins Room at Wortley Hall at 3.30pm.

There will also be an exhibition of images taken by the late Martin Jenkinson, a photographer who captured scenes from the strike.
