A year ago, Sheffield based Folk It launched their painting kits at the Handmade Fair.
Recently they returned to Hampton Court for the event and ended up celebrating their first birthday with Kirstie Allsopp, the face of the event, when she stopped at the stall to see Folk It in action.
Folk It have enjoyed a hugely successful first year selling their kits which aim to teach everybody the basics of Folk Art to allow them to discover their creative side and create beautiful designs. One year on, customers who attended the event in 2014, returned to show them what they had been creating and to purchase more kits. All weekend, people were able to watch co-founders Carol and Sandra demonstrating the designs and staff were kept busy by customers, old and new. Delivering a ‘Grand Make’ workshop every day, people were able to complete a ‘dotty rose’ design from the Starter Kit and see for themselves how achievable it is.
Hearing what a successful weekend the Folk It team were having, the face of the event Kirstie Allsopp and the event organisers stopped by to see what they were selling and to hear more about Folk It.
Carol said: “It was a wonderful weekend and the response to our kits has been fantastic. Our workshop was so popular and to see people having a go at completing one of our designs and realizing they were capable of creating something beautiful was very satisfying. To be able to show our kit and discuss Folk It with Kirstie Allsopp was an amazing birthday bonus”
To build on the success of Series 1, the company is now getting ready to launch their Series 2 collection on TV. The creative duo will be appearing on Create and Craft TV on October 3 and 4.
