Acting sensation Sheridan Smith helped sixties singer Cilla Black rake in a lorra, lorra cash last year, according to national newspaper reports.

The Isle of Axholme starlet, who first trod the boards in Doncaster, helped the star earn £300,000 last year following her portrayal of the music and TV icon in ITV drama Cilla.

Sheridan, 33, drew in millions of viewers for the series about Cilla’s rise to fame - introducing a generation of new fans to the singer and hits such as Anyone Who Had A Heart and Step Inside Love.

Cash in the 71-year-old’s company leapt from £17,000 to £316,000, according to a report in today’s edition of The Sun.
