Doncaster Toll Bar continue to set a scorching pace at the top of the Pennine Amateur Rugby League Championship One division.

Ian Tattersall’s men romped to a 42-8 victory at Newsome Panthers to claim their 14th league win in as many starts.

Steve Mills crossed for Toll Bar’s first two tries and hooker Kieran Cross also touched down before Newsome hit back to make it 14-4.

Man-of-the-match Shaun Roberts crossed for a try he also converted to earn his side a 20-4 interval lead.

Newsome struck first after the break only for Toll Bar to change up a gear and regain control with Cross grabbing his second try before Jack Hopkinson went over out wide.

The Doncaster side missed a few good chances to increase their lead but finished on a high with two quickly-taken tries by Craig Holt and Cross, to ensure their superiority.

“We played really well and put right a few issues from previous games to win back to back away games was a big test as we were patched up and had six players who really shouldn’t have played but they all put their hands up and dug deep for the team,” said coach Tattersall.

“When you also consider that we had two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old on the bench made the result and performance all the more impressive.”

The result leaves Doncaster Toll Bar 14 points clear at the top of the division.

Local rivals Bentley were left kicking their heels after their game at Brotherton Bulldogs was called off.

Moorends Thorne Marauders slumped to their seventh defeat in eight away games, going down 30-18 at mid-table East Leeds who have now won six of their seven home games.

A weakened Toll Bar A suffered only their second Division Six (East) home defeat of the season, going down 56-20 to joint-leaders Drighlington A.
