It will be the first time that the two sides have met since the Cumbrians beat the Dons at Derwent Park in the 2021 promotion play-off final.

The Cumbrians will no doubt be doing their homework on Jack Sanderson who scored four tries in the Dons hard-fought 28-26 win over Oldham at the weekend.

It wasn’t the first time that Sanderson, who has mainly operated on the wing or at full-back, has scored four tries for the South Yorkshire club.

“I did so against Hemel Hempstead a few years ago when I was on loan from Hull FC,” he said.

Sanderson, who re-joined the Dons last season has played the cub’s first two games at centre covering for former PNG international Jason Tali who picked up a knock in pre-season, and it’s likely he’ll retain his place in the side to visit Rochdale this weekend.

“I’ve had to work on different things playing at centre but I’ve enjoyed playing there that’s where I see myself playing long-term going forward,” said Sanderson, who can also play full-back.

“We probably haven’t got into top gear yet, but we are proving a hard team to beat and we showed our character when coming from 18-0 to beat Oldham.

“It will be another tough game at Rochdale and we know we’ve got to turn up from the start.”
