A well polished Barnsley team made light work of qualifying for the next round of the new Yorkshire League South Natwest Under 19 T20 competition at a sun-drenched Doncaster Town on Sunday.
Brad Heaps made 52 for hosts Doncaster but could not prevent his under strength side losing to Sheffield Collegiate by 51 runs in the day’s opening game.
But it was a talented Barnsley outfit who stole the show.
They firstly beat Collegiate by 108 runs after smashing their way to 223-3 from their allotted overs.
Barnsley then eased to a nine wicket win over Doncaster with no fewer than 8.5 overs to spare, after restricting Town to 106-8.
The competition has been introduced to encourage youth participation.
