Featherstone Rovers v Doncaster RLFC: Musolino set to make Dons debut

New loan signing Dan Musolino could make his debut for the Dons in tonight’s testing Championship clash at Featherstone (7.30pm).

Second-rower Steve Snitch, who didn’t train on Tuesday after reporting a slight reaction on his return to action against London Broncos on Sunday following an adductor problem, was due to have a fitness test last night.

With Pasqualle Dunn and Mike Kelly still sidelined and Matt Groat and Jack Walton both picking up bans in midweek, coach Gary Thornton is down to the bare bones in the forwards.

He may be forced to feature prop Brett Waller who has only recently returned to the fold, a week or so earlier than Dons would have preferred.

Thornton, who will be hoping it will be a case of third time lucky after tasting defeat in his first two games in charge, will also be without Shaun Leaf (concussion) and both Josh Bowden and Curtis Naughton. But Hull FC have made second-rower Dean Hadley available.

Thornton is also poised to make other changes to the side which he felt performed better than the 30-4 score would suggest.

Former Featherstone favourite Dave Scott is set to return at full-back and Danny Nicklas could feature on the bench.

Former Dons coach Paul Cooke, who joined Rovers earlier this month, is not included in their squad but is likely to have briefed Andy Hay.

“That may well be the case but Pete (Green) and I are slowly stamping our personalities on the team and we’ve introduced a few new structures,” said Thornton.

“As I have said before I’ve been quite surprised how upbeat the players are and we need to maintain that enthusiasm.

“We certainly can’t afford to go into games beaten before we start.”
