Doncaster RLFC: All the pressure is on Dewsbury - Leaf

Shaun Leaf says no team in the Championship wants to be the first to lose to the Dons - so all the pressure is on Dewsbury Rams this weekend.

Rock bottom Doncaster have lost all 14 of their league games this season but Leaf insists his teammates should be able to play with freedom.

“The way I see it, the pressure’s on the other team because they don’t want to be the first team to get beat by us,” said Leaf.

“There’s no pressure on us, we can play how we want to play and enjoy it as well.

“I think we’re going in the right direction, the effort from everybody out there [last Sunday against Hunslet] was massive.

“There are just a little few clinical areas we’ve got to brush up on in training and against Dewsbury next weekend which is a winnable game.”

Following Paul Cooke’s exit, former boss Tony Miller is expected to remain in temporary charge this weekend.

“It’s difficult whenever you lose a coach but lose your assistant as well and you’re a little bit in limbo,” said Leaf.

“Fair play to Tony, he’s come back and he’s guarded the ship for a little bit voluntarily. He’s a top bloke and I play my heart out for him whenever I can.

“We spoke about this being a fresh start and a new season. Unfortunately we didn’t get the result [last weekend] but we’re not far off.”
