Doncaster’s sporting circuit sees another return to a former club as Graham Briggs has re-joined Rapha Condor JLT.

The 30-year-old’s two-year contract with Raleigh came to an end last month.

Several were chasing the signature of the former National Criterium Champion who opted for a return to Rapha - a club he enjoyed some of his best years in 2008, 2010 and 2011, and which boasts Olympic rider Ed Clancy MBE.

“I’ve had two good years at Raleigh, but I decided that it was time for a change,” said the Rossington race ace.

“I was part of the Rapha Condor Sharp team in 2011 when we had a really successful year, but after that the focus of the team changed and I wanted to go off and see how I could go leading a team.

“It went well and I had some great wins, but I feel that I can get better opportunities to succeed and the guidance that I need to pe form at my best back with John (Herety - team coach).”

Briggs battled illness at the start of the year which delayed his progress, but he later posted some of the best results in the Raleigh team.

However, he was not selected for last month’s Tour of Britain and decided it was time to move on.

“I’m not getting any younger and I thought now was the perfect chance to go somewhere else. When Rapha came in I knew it was a great opportunity.”

Briggs is currently riding for Rapha’s Cycling Club before he can take on the official Condor colours next year and came second in this month’s gruelling Monsal Hill Climb.
