Howzat for a boost! Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall Sports Association has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire to help upgrade their facilities.

The donation comes as part of the housebuilders Community Champions project which will see a pot of £24,000 being donated to local groups and charities in the region over the next 12 months.

Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall Sports Association was chosen because it maintains a sports facility that can be enjoyed by local residents of all ages and abilities. The volunteer-run group maintains the grounds on a daily basis and is home to Barnby Dun Cricket Club, which was founded in 1870.

Peter Fell, chairman of the Barnby Dun Cricket Club, said: “We are so pleased that Persimmon Homes Yorkshire has chosen to support us. This donation means that we can buy essential new sight screens, outdoor seating and covers for cricket wickets which will really improve our facilities.”

Two groups will be chosen every month to receive a donation. Yorkshire-based charities can apply by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
