TOWN Moor was in action last Friday and we’re bouncing from one great meeting to the next with another packed card this evening starting at 6.30pm.
Closest finish last time came in the five furlong handicap when only a nose, and three quarters of a length, separated the first three.
But, after a scorching weekend, it’s literally all hands to the pump to make sure we get enough water on the track to ensure nice safe ground for this evening’s racing.
There are a pleasing amount of entries for the six race card which sees an amateur riders race over two miles kick off proceedings.
At the time of writing there were over 160 runners on the slate and we should have some competitive fields on view.
The leading stables hold entries in the two-year-old maiden at 7pm, including Barry Hills, Richard Hannon, Ed Dunlop, Richard Fahey and Mark Johnston.
She’s A Character, who was successful at Town Moor in April, holds an entry in the one mile handicap at 8.10pm. She’s been second on her last two runs and if turning out again, Richard Fahey will be hoping she can add to her tally of career wins, both of which have come at Doncaster.
If you can’t make today’s racing don’t worry, the Thursday evening race nights are set to continue with dates also in the calendar for July 14 and 21 with another evening meeting scheduled for Saturday, July 30.
That little run sees out July and then in August we’ve got the prospect of a major race day to look forward to followed by a live performance from the band McFly.
The entertainment doesn’t let up with tickets for the four day Ladbrokes St Leger Festival in September selling fast.
The countdown to the event has well and truly begun and we’ve even installed special countdown clocks at the track and on our website.
If you still need to buy a new outfit for the occasion, the opening day is now just 61 days away!
