TRINITY Academy powered their way to South Yorkshire Cup glory to cap a memorable season.
Skipper Kieran Wood ran in a hat trick of tries for the Year Eight side in a 24-7 final win over Sheffield’s Meadowhead School at Dinnington Rugby Club.
A Jordan Linley try in the closing stages, to add to Daniel Fenwick’s conversions, put the seal on an impressive victory.
Dave Potts, director of sport at Trinity Academy, said: “The final was the second meeting of the season between Trinity and Meadowhead.
“In the first encounter we scored a resounding victory so this could have led to complacency against strong opposition, especially in the first half of the final when we did not win enough ball.
“However, we responded well to some tactical changes at half time.
“The final ended in scenes of jubilation and it capped off an excellent season for the lads,” he added.
“Hopefully this cup success will give the team the hunger and desire to work harder on their skills, tactics and fitness, and build a great platform for success in the future.”
The cup winners won 11 out of 13 matches over the course of the season.
