Gomes was absent from the Rovers squad for the midweek defeat at Hull City after making his return to action off the bench against Carlisle.

The Spanish midfielder suffered a thigh strain in late October which kept him out for almost six weeks.

And he could be set for another period on the sidelines after his latest setback.

“Madger, we’ll have to wait and see for the weekend,” Moore said.

“We’re waiting for more but maybe in the game against Carlisle he may have re-strained or re-injured himself.

“We’re just having a closer look at him. But he needs another 24 or 48 hours to settle down before we can assess him.

“With that in mind, he was one that was taken straight out of the squad.”

Jon Taylor continued to be absent from the Rovers squad with a muscle strain with Moore saying he will continue to make 11th hour decisions on the winger’s availability.

“He will train on Thursday,” he said.

“I’ll look at it but they are last minute decisions.

“I’ll have one eye on Saturday but I’ll be looking at the fixtures to come also.”

Moore does expect Danny Amos to be back in contention for Saturday’s trip to Northampton Town after his injury at Carlisle.

“With Danny we’re hoping that he will be there or thereabouts,” he said.

“It was just a contact injury with him so it’s a matter of days.”
