Rob Jones thought Rovers deserved all three points from his first home game in caretaker charge.

After the match, he said: “I thought we started nervously and didn’t really get a foothold in the game for the first 20 to 25 minutes.

“Whether that was the occasion, because I was in charge, because people wanted to do well for me, I don’t know. It was a cagey start but then we got on top and got our goal, which I thought was warranted.

“A lapse in concentration has cost us from a corner. You can debate whether it’s a corner, you can debate whether it’s a goal, but it stands.

“I thought we reacted really well to them levelling it up. In the second half I thought we were magnificent.

“I thought we controlled the second half from start to finish. We were dominant with and without the ball and reduced them to scraps going forward.

“We had enough chances to win the game. That’s probably the most chances we’ve created in the last four or five weeks. At Gillingham there weren’t so many, at Walsall they came outside the box, today I thought we looked menacing at times. But as I told the players afterwards, it’s alright looking menacing, you’ve got to finish them off.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get the three points. I thought we did enough to merit them. We were by far the better team in the second half but goals win games.”
