Rossington join up with Club Doncaster

Rossington Main could soon feature students from Club Doncaster Foundation Academy after signing a partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, students will be able to take part in trials for for the Northern Counties East League club and have the chance of featuring in Main’s U19 or even first team squad. Main first team boss Steve Brennen is delighted with the partnership.

“This is a great opportunity for the club to link to a well-structured academy set up at a professional club,” Brennen said.

“It’s a huge step forward for our development plan and will see some of the best young players in the local area getting the chance to play on our first team pitch in an U19 set up with a view of progressing up the football ladder.”

And Academy coordinator Sam Parkin says the agreement with Rossington offers a new pathway to the youngsters.

He said: “Being able to work with such a well-established local club like Rossington is fantastic.

“It is a great way for our academy players to continue to develop their skills playing for the Foundation mid week and Rossington on a Saturday.

“The long-term aspirations of students will be to represent the first team as part of their development programme.”

Main chairman Carl Stokes added: “The committee and I are absolutely delighted for our club to be linked with Doncaster Rovers. As a community based club we feel it is our duty to help with the development of talented local players and this link goes a long way to doing this.”
