Rossington Main face what is without doubt their sternest test of their unbeaten run this weekend against an in-form Pontefract Collieries at Oxford Street.

The visitors are fourth in Division One and very much in the promotion race, just seven points outside the top two with a game in hand.

Collieries also arrive on the back of a 17-match unbeaten league run stretching back to the end of November and have lost just one of 13 league games on the road.

However, with Rossington having won seven of their eight match undefeated run, Main certainly look in the mood to put a dent in the visitors’ promotion push as Steve Brennan’s side aim to avenge a 6-1 drubbing in the reverse fixture back in September.

Shaun Pendleton and Lee Holmes found the net as Rossington’s resurgence under their new boss continued with a 2-0 win at Knaresborough Town.

Shortly after the restart Joe Hart and Jordan Hatton combined to set up the opening goal for Pendleton, whose well struck effort from the edge of the area found the corner.

It wasn’t long before Main increased their lead when on 52 minutes Holmes took advantage of a defensive error to slide the ball past the exposed keeper.

Armthorpe Welfare were again frustrated by the weather last weekend.

They go to Long Eaton United on Saturday in what will be their first Premier Division game in almost a month after seeing the last three lost to the recent wet spell.

It’s been a frustrating time for Brian Johnston’s side as they bid to bounce back from successive away defeats at Maltby Main and Brighouse Town, 6-0 and 4-1 respectively.

When the teams met at Church Street at the end of October, Long Eaton left with the spoils in a 2-1 victory, scoring twice in the second half after Gary Mundy had given Welfare an early lead.

Long Eaton have won their last three on the spin, are 13th in the table, four places and 14 points ahead of Armthorpe.

Maltby Main take on Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion at Muglet Lane in what is the first of two tough looking games in the space of four days.

The visitors have bounced back from a dip in form during December to win four of the last five.

The one defeat during that run came in an 8-1 thumping at promotion rivals Brighouse Town, Maltby’s hosts on Tuesday, at the beginning of the month.

Main sealed a seventh away league win of the season last weekend with an impressive 3-2 victory at seventh-placed Albion Sports.

Michael Cuckson pounced with the winner, following first half strikes from Joel Davies and Oliver Fearon.
