Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to wish our fans a very happy and prosperous new year at this very exciting time for Club Doncaster.
Our 2015 kicks off with a tricky home tie against Bristol City in the FA Cup third round.
It is worth noting that the club take this competition very seriously, and with prize money of £67,000 for the winner of the tie, we will be doing everything we can to ensure that we are in the hat for the fourth round.
Our form has been a mixed bag so far this term.
Away from home we have been excellent, and the reaction of the fans after our 1-0 win away at high flying Swindon and the point away to Peterborough was very positive.
At home it has been a different story, and there is no hiding behind the fact that it has been a frustrating time for us all - directors, the players, management, staff and of course, you, our loyal and fantastic fans.
It is something we are all conscious of and are therefore doing everything we can to change.
Paul Dickov joked in a press conference before Christmas about wearing the away kit at home! But if it helps, then maybe we should!
That said, what a fantastic result against Coventry on Boxing Day. Three successive clean sheets over the festive period is a fantastic base to take into 2015.
The next ‘Meet the Owners’ event is currently being organised for this month and we are looking to communicate the actual date of this very soon.
I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome to Club Doncaster Ryan Murrant who is our new marketing and communications manager.
Ryan has previously worked at Crawley Town and Southend United where he guided both of those clubs to a multitude of Football League awards for Fan Engagement and Fan Experience, something that we are very focussed on here at Rovers and Dons.
Ryan has already started to progress things here with a focus on matchday atmosphere at our regular Rovers Fan Panels, which could see a complete shift in our fans locations as we look to make the South Stand a ‘proper home end’ and bring back that Belle Vue buzz. I am sure he will be a great success.
n It is well known that the Dons have had an excellent 12 months, a year that has seen them make a significant financial profit.
Fans can be assured that this will go straight back into the club and therefore they will see an increase in their playing budget by 40 per cent.
It’s not often you can say that in sport.
Carl Hall has done an excellent job in raising the club’s profile and in ensuring that Paul Cooke has been able to attract some key players to the club.
The 2015 campaign looks set to certainly be one of the most exciting seasons in Dons history, and with the recent marquee signing of Mitch Clark there is a new air of optimism at HQ as Dons aim for the Super League promised land.
Don’t forget the Dons season kicks off on February 15 away at London Broncos, but there is still a chance to see them in action before then at their friendlies when they go head to head with Hull FC on January 11 and then face Hunslet Hawks before they host both Challenge Cup finalists Castleford Tigers and winners Leeds Rhinos.
n We have some more positive news, this time with the Belles who have partnered with Club Doncaster in a sponsorship deal that will keep them at Keepmoat Stadium for the next three years.
This partnership will enhance the portfolio of sporting events on offer at Keepmoat Stadium.
As the Club Doncaster brand gathers momentum, following our launch of Club Doncaster vouchers, we really do believe that what we can offer the good people of this town really is a unique offering and we want you all to be part of it.
As always thank you for your continued support and let’s have a great 2015.
