Match report: Burton Albion 3 Doncaster Rovers 3

Nathan Tyson looked to have won it after scoring from the spot with seven minutes to go.

But Mark Duffy came back to haunt Rovers on the stroke of full time as he lashed in an equaliser.

Rovers led through Andy Williams - who also missed a penalty - before Burton turned the game on its head with a Calum Butcher double.

Paul Keegan's sublime free kick levelled the game once more before the thrilling final ten minutes.

After a first half in which the hosts certainly looked like the top team in the division, Rovers roared back to show they really never know when they are beaten.

Thorsten Stuckmann kept the hosts out early when he rushed out to deny Nasser El Khayati who had been sent through one on one by former Rovers midfielder Mark Duffy.#

Rovers barely saw the ball for the first three minutes but showed ruthlessness with their first sight of goal in the fourth.

Mitchell Lund swung in a cross which Williams chested down and superbly lashed into the far corner.

Burton continued to control possession but when Rovers got the ball, they attacked with pace, confidence and energy to cause some real problems.

A stunning pass from Conor Grant almost sent Nathan Tyson in but he scuffed wide under pressure.

The hosts continued to push and it needed a last ditch header from Craig Alcock to prevent Stuart Beavon from turning in El Khayati's cross.

Williams had been the hero but turned villain on 18 minutes as Burton got their in. He played a much too casual pass inside the Rovers half which was cut out and fed to Butcher who calmly slotted past the on-rushing Stuckmann.

Burton went into the ascendency after equalising while Rovers wilted and retreated deeper and deeper.

When presented with the chance to break, possession was conceded cheaply and ensured the pressure rarely abated.

But for all their control of the ball, Burton struggled to forge clear-cut chances.

Duffy was put through one on one with Stuckmann but the big German repeated his earlier heroics by rushing out quickly to block.

There was a nervy moment soon after the break for Rovers when Butcher shot with the ball deflecting up and hitting Andy Butler on the hand but referee Mark Heywood was unmoved.

He was at the other end moments later when he gifted Rovers the chance to take the lead when they were awarded a soft penalty on 54 minutes. Lund fed in Tyson who was blocked off by John Mousinho as he shaped to shoot.

Williams stepped up to take but his effort was poor, placed low and well within reach of a grateful Jon McLaughlin.

Ferguson sprung into action and made two changes, also tinkering with his formation.

On came Keegan and Luke McCullough for Cedric Evina and Mitchell Lund with Rovers switching to 4-4-2 from 3-5-2.

But they were soon left ruing Williams' miss when Burton took the lead just past the hour mark.

Butcher collected a high ball and in one swift movement surged ahead of Butler before placing his shot past Stuckmann.

Rovers responded well and began to look much more threatening.

And they grabbed the equaliser on 70 minutes from a most unlikely source.

Grant was taken out on the edge of the box and Keegan curled a superb free kick in off the upright.

From then, Rovers looked the more likely winners but it was the gift of a second penalty that saw them go ahead seven minutes from time.

Butler was wiped out by Phil Edwards as he attempted to meet a cross and Heywood pointed straight to the spot. Tyson took over penalty duty and slotted confidently into the bottom corner.

But the game was not done there as Burton equalised two minutes from time.

The ball fell to Duffy in the box and he drilled into the far top corner.

And Duffy could easily have won it for his side in stoppage time when he was sent through but for the third time in the game, Stuckmann darted out to block.
