Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov paid tribute to Theo Robinson after the striker grabbed his third goal of the campaign in their 1-1 draw with South Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley.

The result keeps Rovers in 16th position but extends their unbeaten run to three matches.

Dickov said: “I’ve got to give Theo credit. He has waited patiently for his chance. His overall play deserved a goal.”

Dickov was delighted with his players response after they fell behind and claimed they deserved to pick up maximum points.

“It’s another point away from home but I guess we are disappointed we have not come away with all three,” he said.

“I felt the performance was worthy of that. It keeps our little run going though. That’s one defeat in seven games.

“The performance levels for the majority of the game were good.

“We started the game poorly and it was too easy for Barnsley. They started brightly.

“Some of the football we played was fantastic. We moved the ball with purpose and created chances.

“Big Ross Turnbull kept them in the game with some terrific saves.”

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson admitted: “The amount of efforts on goal they (Rovers) had, were far better than ours.”
