Paul Dickov is set to give Doncaster a summer facelift - but will not fix what isn’t broken.
Rovers’ new boss hopes to recruit in numbers over the next couple of months to add depth to Doncaster’s ranks.
But the fiery Scot is not about to disrupt the team spirit that fuelled the club’s successful League One title pursuit.
Dickov said: “Every successful team that I’ve played in had a fantastic team spirit and togetherness about it.
“I’ve seen Doncaster a lot this year and that’s what got them over the line.
“Yes I’ve got targets, and yes I’ve got ideas about the way I want to play and the players I want to bring in.
“But those players will have to come in and integrate with what’s already here.
“It won’t be the other way round.
“There won’t be an influx of players coming in at once and looking for the ones here to integrate into them.
“They’ll have to come in with the same work ethic, the same desire and the same togetherness if they want to come and play for me here.”
Dickov is expected to make full use of his contacts at Manchester City - and elsewhere - over the coming weeks in an effort to strengthen his hand.
“I’ve got a long list of targets, which I’m sure the board will be pleased about,” Dickov smiled.
“But it has to be the right player.
“I’ll make sure that anyone who comes in integrates with how I want to play, integrates with the players and the work ethos already here.”
