Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Oscar Gobern on loan until January.
The 24-year-old central midfielder has joined until January 4 with QPR holding no option for a recall.
The Star understands Gobern is the player Rovers boss Paul Dickov identified as the ideal replacement for Richie Wellens, should the veteran midfielder secure a move away from the Keepmoat.
An announcement on Wellens' future has yet to be made after he entered talks with another club at the weekend.
Gobern joined Rangers in the summer after leaving Huddersfield Town but managed just two appearances before his switch to Rovers, both coming in Capital One Cup starts.
Gobern started his career with Southampton and went on to make 27 senior appearances for the Saints.
He switched to Huddersfield in 2011 and made 79 appearances.
The Birmingham-born midfielder joined QPR on trial this summer after leaving Huddersfield and earned a one-year contract.
