The on loan Arsenal striker pulled up with the injury during Saturday’s win at Swindon Town.

And a scan has revealed a tear to the muscle, with Rovers awaiting further news on the length of time John-Jules is expected to be out for.

“It’s a hamstring injury and we think he’s going to be out for some time,” Moore said.

“It’s a bitter blow for us.

“Later in the week we will have more news and more of a timescale with it.

“It’s sad news for us to lose someone of that ilk and quality.”

Moore confirmed that Rovers will continue with John-Jules’ loan rather than cancelling it, and hope to have him involved again this season.

“No. It won’t be the end of his loan,” he said.

“It’s just getting the timescale now.”

The injury to the 19-year-old has altered Moore’s transfer plans and he now intends to put his focus into adding to his forward options as soon as possible.

“It does change things,” he said.

“On Friday last week my mindset was in a different place and 24 hours later it was completely different.

“I wanted to really focus on the Rochdale game after Saturday’s game at Swindon but on Wednesday morning, we’ll be right on it in terms of trying to get things organised.

“It does change the whole dynamic of it with the scale of the injury.”
