Billy Sharp and Sean O’Driscoll have both confirmed they will honour James Coppinger at his testimonial ‘Legends’ game.
Leeds United striker Sharp said on Twitter: “Honoured, grateful & excited to be invited to @Coppinger26 testimonial in April.”
For O’Driscoll, now England Under 19 boss, it will be his first time back at the Keepmoat Stadium since he was sacked by Doncaster in 2011.
The players confirmed so far are Brian Stock, Tim Ryan, Jimmy O’Connor, Paul Green, Ricky Ravenhill, Leo Fortune-West, Andy Warrington and Sharp, while O’Driscoll and former Rovers assistant manager Richard O’Kelly will manage one of the teams.
Coppinger and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson will captain the two teams.
Coppinger said on his website: “I want this very special event to create a special buzz for the people of Doncaster and be remembered for years to come.
“My aim is to make this an amazing day for everyone who has supported me over the past 10 years at Doncaster Rovers, especially the people of Doncaster.”
Tickets went on sale for the match, to be played on Sunday, April 19, today at www.jamescoppinger.co.uk.
