Abi Rodwell sets off on her cycling trip from Barnsley to Amsterdam today.

Abi, who took part in the event for the first time last year, sets off on the 145-mile route, which starts at Barnsley's Oakwell ground and finishes at the Amsterdam Arena, at 8am this morning.

She will join representatives from across the Football League in firstly cycling to Hull and then, after a ferry ride, from Rotterdam to Amsterdam tomorrow - and this time she will be accompanied by her dad, John.

Abi told Rovers' official website: “Last year was a challenge, but an unforgettable experience at the same time. I think I'd already signed up for this year's ride before even making it back to England!

“Training has been difficult again this year, it’s hard to fit it all in. There have been a lot of late nights and early mornings but it will all be worth it when we cross the finish line!

“My dad has got into his cycling recently and after seeing my photos and hearing about the challenge last year he was really keen to get involved too. It’s great to have someone else signed up to join me over the weekend.

“So far we’ve raised nearly £2,000 but we set ourselves a target of £2,500 so it would be great to beat our target. We’d both like to thank everyone who has donated to our Just-Giving page so far, the support has been amazing."
