Paul Dickov says Abdul Razak is worth waiting for as the wrangle over his international clearance continues.

The Football Association and FIFA have both got involved in the issue which is being held up by a single document due from the Greek Federation, under which Razak played for OFI Crete.

Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin says he has been given assurances by the FA that the clearance will be granted before the visit of Walsall tomorrow.

“The FA are reassuring us that the player will be available for the weekend,” Baldwin said.

“They are working with FIFA on this as well. This is not an issue unique to Doncaster Rovers working with the Greek Federation.

“When we get reassurances from the FA then it means, because of the quality of the player, we’re willing to put up with these delays.”

It is now 18 days since Razak signed for Rovers and he has spent that time training with the first team squad but unable to take part in any competitive action.

But Dickov insists once he is able to unleash Razak, the wait will have been worth it.

He said: “Without putting too much pressure on the kid, once he gets up to speed, he’ll be worth waiting for.

“He’s not played a full game since December 14 but the thing he’s got in his favour is he’s a very fit boy.

“We’re hopeful it won’t be too long before we can get him out there.”
