Two goals in each half saw Doncaster Belles under-15s maintain their 100 per cent start to the season with a 4-1 win over a much-improved Barnsley team, writes Nigel Watson.
Belles made a dream start when Jess Hassall got down the wing and crossed for Kirsty Nelthorpe to finish at the far post.
However, Barnsley showed plenty of character to match Donny in a scrappy first half and got their reward when they scored from the penalty spot.
The Barnsley goalkeeper was required to come off her line bravely on many occassions throughout the match but was left helpless when Libby Watson placed a left footed volley into the top corner to take Belles into the interval a goal to the good.
Donny extended their lead when Naomi Oldridge played a neat one-two on the edge of the visitors’ penalty area and went on to place the ball into the bottom corner.
Good defending from Tia Hughes and Kayleigh Green kept the visitors at bay and Roza Frydrych completed the scoring when she rounded the ‘keeper to slot home.
Jess Hassall won ‘Lass of the Grass’.
Belles are next in action away to Handsworth on Saturday.
