Belles striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk said she believes she is part of the best strike force in FAWSL2 after the league leaders put bottom side Watford to the sword with a 5-0 thumping.

It was the second time the Belles had beaten their opponents by that scoreline this season.

Sweetman-Kirk netted twice at Berkhamsted on Sunday. while Beth England also notched a double before Sue Smith rounded off the scoring.

The win increased the gap to third-placed Yeovil to eight points after the Lady Glovers were held to a 2-2 draw against London Bees.

Belles, who have a two-point lead over Reading in second, are closing in on a return to FAWSL1 with just six games of the league season remaining.

“I think the stats show now that we have as good an attack as Reading’s if not better,” said Sweetman-Kirk.

“If I’m correct I believe we’ve gone level with them on goal difference now and we can not only score goals but keep clean sheets as well because we’ve got a great defence.

“It’s a cliche but we’re taking every game as it comes and we’re saying now that every game is a cup final.

“Three points from any game is fantastic and the sooner we’re promoted and the sooner we’re the champions of WSL 2 the better and we’re now a game closer to that goal.”

England smashed Doncaster ahead in just the third minute when she struck a superb shot into the net from a narrow angle.

Just before half-time, she doubled Donny’s lead by beating Watford goalkeeper Trippoli Witney to Rhiannon Roberts’ deep free-kick to head into an empty net.

Sweetman-Kirk then finished the match as a contest in the second-half with an angled first-time finish before she got ahead of Witney to poach a close-range header.

And Smith wrapped up an emphatic victory for Doncaster in FA Women’s Super League with BT Sport as she sent a free-kick from the right-hand corner of the box right into the top corner.

Watford manager John Salomon said: “Unfortunately when you come up against the team that’s top of the league with the quality that they have got then it’s always going to be difficult.

“They’ve scored some really good goals today and we have to put our hand up and say we were beaten by the better team.”
