But the Rovers boss insisted he will be exploring alternatives and warned the offer to the forward will not remain forever.

Sadlier was released by Rovers this week after rejecting the offer of a new contract, first presented to him earlier this year.

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international is thought to be awaiting offers from Championship clubs as the second tier season draws to a close.

However Moore said the door remains open for Sadlier at the Keepmoat, for now at least.

“We’ll keep in contact in Kieran,” Moore told the Free Press.

“Kieran will be the one that tells us. There is an offer there for him.

“We understand he’s been advised by his advisers to let his contract run down because they believe that other opportunities will come in for him.

“He knows how important he is for us, we’ve illustrated that to him.

“We have a gentleman’s agreement that he’ll come back to me at some point.

“The boy wants to play football

“There’s more to come from him and we’d like him to sign on for more with us.

“We understand that he’s had a great season, he’s scored 12 goals, had half a dozen assists, he’s had a fantastic season individually and he wants to test the waters out there.

“That’s fine but he also knows of our interest in him as well.

“We’ll wait and see what develops from it.”

Moore will begin examining the transfer market in earnest this week as talent identification manager Adam Henshall is brought out of furlough.

And he says possible replacements for Sadlier will be firmly on the agenda.

“It’s the right thing to do for the football club,” he said.

“I’ve got to start looking over the course of the week for the level and volume of players that are out there and see what is out there.

“Kieran knows of our desire with him. We’ve made that perfectly clear.

“Also at the same time I have to start maneuvering with a plan B, which is very important for us as a football club.”
