Darren Ferguson is convinced there is more to come from strike pairing Nathan Tyson and player of the month nominee Andy Williams.
The duo both netted in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Southend United taking Tyson on to five for the season and Williams’ tally to 13.
Williams has been nominated for the December League One player of the month prize after netting four goals in four league matches.
But boss Ferguson believes there is still plenty of improvement in his firing forwards.
“They’ve done really well the pair of them but I think there’s more to come,” he said.
“They’re quite a good mix in Tyse has that pace to get in behind and Willo will link up. They’ve worked well together.
“Strikers are all the same – once they start scoring goals, they just get into that habit.
“Willo has his confidence back and Tyse has his confidence up. It just becomes really natural to them.
“I’ve been really pleased with both of them.”
Ferguson says the work ethic of both men is key to the system he deploys and doubts there are more willing runners in any attack in the division.
He said: “They give you a real platform and I don’t think there’s two harder working strikers in the league.
“They give you a really good start, they get you up the pitch and defend from the front really well.
“And when we play how we want to play with a real high energy, those two do it as good as any.”
Williams is nominated for the player of the month award alongside Blackpool defender Tom Aldred, Walsall midfielder Adam Chambers and Burton Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
