Doncaster Knights are running the rule over Newcastle Falcons second row Glen Young.
Young, 20, has been lined up as potential cover for Tyler Hotson and Jon Phelan who hope to be included in Canada’s squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Director of rugby Clive Griffiths has also revealed that Northampton’s Jordan Onojaife will also train with Knights next month with a view to a temporary move to Castle Park.
“At this moment in time we still don’t know if both of our Canadian locks will be selected for the World Cup squad,” said Griffiths.
“We have had quite a few lads in to train and to have a look at them. After the break another Canadian, Matt Heaton, will train with us from Otley.
“We have to reinforce in that [second row] area for sure, whether it is on loan like with Glen and Jordan, a dual-registration or we bring someone in full time.
“It’s something we need to weigh up and make a decision on.
“There are a number of candidates to look at, eight at the last count, that have caught our attentions and are available.
“Next week is going to be a very busy week for me in terms of getting deals finalized.”
Hotson and Phelan are currently on duty with Canada at the Pacific Nations Cup.
