Front row pair Jack Bergmanas and Ben Hunter have signed new contracts with Doncaster Knights.

Former Leeds Carnegie academy product Bergmanas, 21, has agreed a one-year extension with his hometown team.

While Hunter, who featured 16 times during last season’s National One title winning campaign, will remain at Castle Park until the end of the 2015/16 season after penning a two-year deal.

Director of rugby Clive Griffiths is keen to make quick headway when it comes to assembling a squad for next season’s return to the Greene King IPA Championship, and is currently in talks with several prospective new signings.

The Welshman currently has 12 names on his confirmed list.

Bergmanas and Hunter join ten players about to enter into the second year of their two-year contracts; club captain Matt Challinor, Bevon Armitage, Colin Phillips, Dougie Flockhart, Glen Kenworthy, Paul Roberts, Ross Davies, Tom Davies, Phil Eggleshaw and Will Foden.

Tyson Lewis and Mat Clark, who notched 42 tries between them in National One for Doncaster, are among several players currently out of contract.
