RLC Rockets will throw their doors open to prospective new cheerleaders this month - and hope to bolster their senior ranks.

Following the success of the club’s younger squads, Doncaster’s all-star cheerleading group are keen to recruit more males and females aged 17-35.

The group will host an Open Day at their Hexthorpe gym (Bridge Street, DN4 0AL) on Sunday, February 15 (5pm-8pm).

Owner Rachel Carter said: “Whether it be for fun and fitness, or you’d like to try out for the competition squad and the chance to travel and compete nationally, there is something for everyone.

“Forget the pom poms, this is all-star cheerleading, an athletic activity that combines elements of gymnastic tumbling, dance, acrobatics and traditional cheerleading skills such as jumps and arm motions.

“It’s a great way of keeping fit, meeting new people and being part of a team. Anyone out there looking for a new challenge can come along on the 15th and find out more about what we do.”

No experience is necessary although the club are encouraging anyone with a gymnastic or dance background to attend.
