Youth unemployment figures on the rise

ROTHERHAM and Doncaster have seen some of the biggest increases in youth unemployment in the country in the last year, new figures from the Trades Union Council reveal.

In Doncaster, the proportion of 18-14 year-olds claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance between 2010-2011 increased by 2.7 percentage points to 13.8 – the fifth highest rise in the country.

While in Rotherham for the same period, it increased by 2.6 percentage points to 13.3, the eighth highest rise of all UK authority areas.
