AS a town councillor in Stainforth I was dismayed to hear that Stainforth had suddenly replaced Intake on a list of possible closures to be considered by the Mayor of Doncaster’s cabinet.
The library in Stainforth reaches out to the whole community with its holiday activities for children, its computers and now its film club.
Its work complements the work of the schools in Stainforth and needs to be supported in its hour of need.
The three ward councillors, Fishlake and Sykehouse Parish Councils and the MP Ed Miliband have also given backing to this campaign.
The library also serves people in Fishlake, Barnby Dun and Dunscroft and its loss (along with the proposed closure of Moorends) would leave people in the Stainforth Ward (one of Doncaster’s largest) without any library facilities.
I would urge everyone to support the petitions which are circulating and if possible to write to Mr Davies, the Mayor of Doncaster, to voice their concerns.
