One Direction fans from all over the world have joined together to organise a charity drive for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in honour of Louis Tomlinson’s 22nd birthday.

Fans of Louis, one-fifth of the boy band, One Direction, decided the perfect 22nd birthday gift would be to band together and see how much they can raise for the organisation he supports through charity football matches.

Fans can donate through

A series of t-shirts designed by fans are also for sale with the proceeds going to the cause (

The donation page received more than 850 US dollars in donations within the first 12 hours the site was up and is quickly approaching $4000 after only six days. The initial goal is to raise $22,222 by December 24, Tomlinson’s birthday.

If that goal is reached beforehand, a higher target will be set. The effort has led to the creation of a website just for One Direction fans called 1D Fans Give ( that hopes to publicise One Direction fans’ efforts to raise money for causes supported by One Direction and their families.

One fan said: “Louis Tomlinson is not only a musical idol, but also a philanthropist. His charity work, especially for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, has not gone unnoticed within the One Direction fandom. I am honoured to be able to support Louis’ favorite charity as my birthday gift to him for all he has given to his fans.”

Tomlinson was recently signed as a non-contract player to the Doncaster Rovers Football Club with the goal of playing in a charity match to support Bluebell Wood. An injury suffered in an earlier charity match kept him off the field, although fans still showed up to cheer the team on and support the children’s hospice.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice supports UK children in South Yorkshire, and the North Midlands with a shortened life expectancy. They provide ongoing medical respite care for the poorly child, practical and emotional support for family members, bereavement support, and end of life care.
