A NUMBER of wards at Doncaster Royal Infirmary have been closed temporarily due to an outbreak of Norovirus.

It has been revealed that new patients have been affected by diarrhoea and vomiting – known as D and V or gastroenteritis – caused by the seasonal bug.

Hospital staff are asking visitors to stay away from the building and not risk bringing infections in where vulnerable patients may be infected.

The virus can affect people of all ages and is commonly transmitted through person-to-person contact where they have not washed their hands properly.

People are being warned to not come as an inpatient, outpatient, or visitor if you have any signs of a stomach upset.
