WEST Stockwith Parish Council has announced plans to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations later this year.
On Saturday, June 9, there will be a marching band and a procession of the ‘West Stockwith Queen’, her attendants and others in fancy dress.
Children have put their names forward for the honour and a draw will be made at a social event on Friday, March 23, in the Gertrude Morris Hall at 6.30pm.
After the procession there will be a street party and traditional games on the Malt Kiln followed by a barn dance in the Gertrude Morris Hall in the evening.
Main Street may be closed on the day between Ings Lane and North Carr Road but residents will be consulted - any concerns should be sent to the parish clerk by tomorrow (Friday).
Plans have been boosted by £200 grants from both County Councillor Liz Yates and District Councillor Hazel Brand.
