A huge bees nest has been spotted by startled shoppers underneath a Doncaster town centre bench this morning.
The swarm has been seen beneath the metal seat on Frenchgate - normally used by shoppers and people taking their lunch breaks - and people are being warned to keep away from the bench.
A photo posted on Facebook shows a huge cone of the stinging insects gathered beneath the metal rungs of the bench. Dozens more can be spotted on the ground.
Ironically, the pictures were taken outside the TSB bank, prompting one wag to remark the branch should be renamed the "TSBee."
One passer by, who had popped into the nearby Frenchgate Cafe, said: "It's outside - it's like a weird swarm around a queen.
"There's someone from the Frenchgate out there warning people now. It is a sight and a half."
A note warning of "bees" has been posted on top of the bench.
It is also understood pest control experts have been called in to remove the nest.
