VIDEO: Iconic Doncaster church and village viewed from the air

The footage of the towering All Saints Church at Woodlands has been uploaded to YouTube and gives an amazing bird's eye view of the building as well as the surrounding village.

Filmed by user Dale Smith using a drone camera, the seven minute clip gives viewers the chance to take a look at the building - a familiar landmark across the town because of its massive spire - from a never before seen angle.

The model colliery village, with the church as its centrepiece, was designed and built in the early 20th century by the architect Percy Houfton as tied cottages for the miners of the neighbouring Brodsworth Colliery.

In an era of model villages such as Saltaire, Port Sunlight and Bournville, Woodlands, with extensive open spaces, many different designs of houses, and overall living conditions superb for their time, possibly represents the height of the model village movement.

All Saints Church, built in 1913, was built for the mining community by the Thellusson family, owners of Brodsworth Hall.
