Two new specialist shops have opened in a Doncaster shopping centre.
Little Zebra, specialising in designer baby and children’s wear, and gaming and comic shop, Vault 14, are both run by Doncaster based owners.
Little Zebra, managed by not-for-profit organisation, Open Cast, has opened at 29 Kingsgate after signing a five year lease with St. Modwen, which owns and manages the shopping centre.
Vault 14, located at 30 Kingsgate, specialises in war games, trading cards and new American comics. The store has signed a three year lease with St. Modwen after moving premises from Scot Lane in the Town Centre.
Building on the success of Taste Eatery, a social enterprise café also based at Waterdale Shopping Centre, Little Zebra will offer young people the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and training in a retail environment. All profits generated by the new shop will support the work of Open Cast.
Bob Dowling, Development Manager at Open Cast, said: “Our mission at Little Zebra is to provide customers with a wonderful choice of designer Baby and Children's wear whilst creating a venue for Doncaster's young people to train in all aspects of retail in a real commercial business. They also have a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the development of a vibrant and successful new Waterdale.”
Shaun Ward, Owner of Vault 14, said: “The central location of Waterdale, the ongoing work to revitalise the centre and the flexibility of St. Modwen were all key factors in the decision to relocate from Scot Lane. We are looking forward to being part of the continued regeneration of Waterdale Shopping Centre.”
Paul Brustad, Asset Manager at St. Modwen, said: “Both Little Zebra and Vault 14 are welcome additions to the growing number of new independent retailers opening at Waterdale Shopping Centre, providing a unique offer to local shoppers. This is all part of our ongoing work to attract new retailers in order to continue to revitalise and improve the centre.”
