A 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have been injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a ditch on Sunday evening.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service were all called out to the scene, on Woodfield Way, Balby at around 5.30pm.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “A car had lost control between the Morrisons and Tesco roundabout and ended up in a ditch, on its roof.

Firefighters from Doncaster and Adwick stations were at the scene for an hour, freeing the pair from the car, a red Porsche.

A Yorkshire Ambulance spokesman said two ambulances were sent to the accident, along with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“The woman was taken by land ambulance to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, with multiple injuries and the man was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with injuries that are not thought to be serious,” she said.

Liam Hoden, who lives on Woodfield Way, was driving home when he saw the car. He called 999 immediately.

“The Porsche flew past me on White Rose Way, then flew from the lights turning down Woodfield Way.

“If anyone had been coming the other way they’d have been wiped out. You’d have had no chance if you were a pedestrian.

“The man in the car said that he’d just met the woman who was driving. It’s a bizarre situation.”

Woodfield Way was closed until around 11pm.

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 815 of 8 March.
