Trio charged with drugs offences following Mexborough raids

Three men have been charged in connection with alleged drugs offences in Mexborough, following a police operation in the town during which officers recovered a quantity of drugs and offensive weapons.

Warrants were executed at properties at a number of locations across Mexborough throughout Tuesday. A quantity of drugs and offensive weapons were recovered from several properties.

Three men have been charged following the operation.

Coban Sheridan, 20, of Schofield Street, Mexborough, was charged with possession of a controlled drug.

Kyle Shaw, 23, of Oak Court, Mexborough, was charged with drugs trafficking and 19-year-old Adrian Foster, of no fixed address, was charged with possession with intent to supply.

All are due to appear before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 7 April).

Inspector Richard Collingwood from the Local Policing Team said: “In addition to the warrants, officers from the LPT carried out high visibility reassurance patrols to offer advice and support to the wider community.

“Our efforts to crack down on illegal activity in Mexborough will very much continue so we can make our town a safer place to work and live.”

Karen Johnson, Doncaster Council’s Assistant Director of Communities, said: “Doncaster Council and its partners work closely with South Yorkshire Police to tackle all types of anti-social and criminal behaviour.

“We fully support their approach and feel we have a key role in providing reassurance to local communities and preventing individuals, particularly young people, becoming involved in this type of criminal behaviour.

“We already work closely with the local community in Mexborough, supporting them to make a difference to their local neighbourhoods, improving local facilities such as parks, installing additional CCTV and organising diversionary sports activities.”
