Motorists are being warned that improvements to one of Doncaster’s busiest roads are set to start.

Essential resurfacing work on Thorne Road between Hall Gate and Broxholme Lane is taking place on up to five consecutive Sundays starting on Sunday February 15.

In order to replace the worn out carriageway safely on this busy road there will be a series of Sunday road closures between 8am and 5pm.

Signposted diversions will be in place during the works to the inbound and outbound sections.

Access will continue to be available for residents on Lawn Road, Lawn Avenue and Townfield Villas who need to use part of this section of Thorne Road.

Councillor Bill Mordue, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “It is important we continue to enhance and maintain our road network and this scheme is another example of our commitment to improving the road user experience.

“We are doing all we can to minimise disruption and that is why the works are being carried out on Sundays when there are fewer road users. We apologise for any inconvenience and ask road users and residents to bear with us as they will see a real difference once the works are completed.”
