Time for tinsel as festive fun run takes place

Santas and snowmen, fairies and festive fun runners turned out for the inuagural Tinsel Turbary Trail earlier this month.

The seven and a half mile trail run was organised by Metres to Miles and Team Dawson Race Team, starting and finishing on Epworth showground.

The event attracted just over 300 entrants from across the region, with runners from Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Leicester.

Organiser Julian Moorhouse said: “It was so well received, with 60 to 70 per cent of participants running wearing festive fancy dress.

“The winner was David Robinson from Scunthorpe and the first Isle runner was Adam Plow from Westwoodside.

“The event was a tremendous success and there were so many positive comments about the beautiful course and the festive atmosphere on the morning.

“The run is likely to develop in to a popular event on the local running events calendar.”

Competitor Dave Milton said: “A cracking well timed event, very well organised and conducted. A big big thank you to all involved and to Metres to Miles for another outstanding race. Defo on the calendar for next year...cheers guys. Hohoho.”

Heather Brennan added: “Thank you for a great route and well planned event - love the medal, t-shirt and refreshments, oh, and the prize for fancy dress.”
