The countdown to one of the biggest and most prestigious sporting and social occasions in the South Yorkshire calendar is underway, with tickets to the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival now on sale.

Admission tickets to the Town Moor racecourse’s world famous sporting event, which takes place over four days between Wednesday, September 9 and Saturday, September 12, are available to purchase.

Organisers are urging people to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment after last year’s event attracted record crowds of over 62,000 and completely sold out on the Saturday.

Kieran Gallagher, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We are expecting an early surge in bookings as people make plans for what is traditionally one of the most popular racing events in the British horse racing calendar.

“The meeting continues to attract guests from right across the country to witness a meeting that includes one of Britain’s classic races. The atmosphere across the four days is absolutely electric and it’s always been a fantastic meeting, with big crowds and some stunning racing.”

General admission tickets start from £8 for entry to the family enclosure on the first three festival dates and go up to £86 for Premier admission on Leger Saturday.

A wide range of hospitality options are also available to enjoy the spectacle in style priced from £125+VAT.

A number of early bird Leger Festival offers are available up to May 31 including £5 off County Enclosure tickets (excluding the Saturday), 10 percent off bookings of groups of 10 or more for the Grandstand enclosure (across all days).

Four day passes are available (get Wednesday free) priced at £33 for Family, £96 for Grandstand and £161 for County enclosures.

On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the festival guests can enjoy a number of live music performances that go on into the evening after racing has finished.

The music performances will take place on the Hallam FM Champagne lawn which will operate a strict over 18’s policy on all four days of the festival.

“With a range of ticket options available to suit all budgets we’re sure that people from South Yorkshire and beyond will come along to enjoy some of the best racing we can offer at unbelievably good value.

We’re always looking to improve the customer experience and have introduced the over 18s policy for the Hallam FM Champagne lawn in response to valuable feedback.

Guests will be able to enjoy a fantastic day out with family, friends and colleagues alike long after the racing has finished,” added Gallagher.

The Ladbrokes St Leger Festival gets underway with the Leger Legends Raceday, which sees veteran jockeys return to the racecourse to take part in the UK’s only charity race ran under rules.

Leger Ladies Day, the most glamorous day of the festival featuring the famous Best Dressed Lady competition takes place on the second day of action, before the biggest and best days of racing get underway on the Friday and Saturday, which features the festival’s signature event and world’s oldest Classic, the illustrious Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes, first ran in 1776.
