More than one third of dads in the region have never sought advice on parenting, according to a survey published by Action for Children.

The poll of more than 2,200 UK parents of children aged 18 or under showed 38 per cent of dads in Yorkshire do not seek assistance on looking after their children.

The survey also found that 27 per cent of mums in the county also fail to seek help on parenting matters.

It revealed mums and dads who use children’s centres are more likely to seek assistance.

Julie Longworth, operational director at Action for Children in Yorkshire, said: “Parents face many challenges so it’s important to know where to seek help. Getting help early for difficulties affecting your family can stop them developing into bigger problems so don’t feel embarrassed or scared to ask.”
