Sword swallowers, contorionists and fire breathers are all set to kick off a new Doncaster nightclub this week.
Kooky on Silver Street will enter the Doncaster nightlife scene on Friday following a multi-million pound makeover from its previous guise as Trilogy.
The club has already opened and closed three times in the past few years and bosses are pulling out all the stops for this weekend’s opening.
A new frontage and sign has been attached to the front of the club with a poster displaying details of the forthcoming opening.
A spokesman for Kooky said: “Leave reality at home and enter the weird and wonderful Kooky Nightclub.
“Prepare to be entertained and expect the unexpected with breath-taking aerial artists performing on hoops above the DJ stand! Amazing contortionists with crazy stunts including a bed of nails, sword swallowing and body stapling.
“There will also be entertainers with eccentric costumes dancing, fire breathing and grinding!”
The club, Doncaster’s largest nightclub, originally closed in 2010 after seven years in business and then briefly re-opened in winter 2012 under new management for a few weeks before shutting down once again.
Under fresh onwership, the club re-opened again in March last year but again closed down once more.
The club originally shut in 2010 due to a slump in trade and was snapped up in 2012 by a new consortium, Yorkshire Bars Limited which announced ambitious plans, creating 100 jobs and installing state-of-the-art sound and light systems at the 3,000-capacity venue - before promptly shutting down again after just three weeks.
The club will offer two rooms of music featuring a 3D digital wall, confetti cannons, lasers, pyrotehcnic amd VIP booths.
Former clubs on the site include Top Rank, Rotters, Elektrik Avenue, Ritzy and Visage.
